Evil Superman was a separate being that was created from Superman due to exposure to red Kryptonite which corrupted him and temporarily separated him into two beings. (Superman III).
Appearance[]
The Superman suit took on a significantly darker colour scheme. His overall appearance also deteriorated as seen by his scruffy appearance and unkempt hair.
History[]
When Gus Gorman created synthetic Kryptonite on the behalf of Ross Webster, Superman reacted unexpectedly. Gorman presented Superman with the Kryptonite and was disappointed that it had no immediate effect. Over time, Superman focused on destructive acts as opposed to working for the well-being of people. Evil Superman's acts ranged from juvenile to serious. Some of his more juvenile acts included blowing out the Olympic Torch or straightening the Leaning Tower of Pisa, whereas more destructive acts included destroying an oil tanker. Evil Superman was also prone to heavy drinking, wallowing in self-pity, and having a weakness for women. Lorelei Ambrosia became his mistress, and she manipulated him to do her bidding (actually her boss Ross Webster's plans). Lana Lang wanted nothing to do with Evil Superman, but her young son Ricky, who Superman had saved before his descent into darkness, believed in him and claimed his evil-doing was a reaction to a downturn in life. Ricky's remark caused conflict within Evil Superman, causing him to split in two, and his remaining goodness appeared in the form of Clark Kent. Evil Superman sought to kill Clark, but Clark withstood all attacks and ultimately defeated Evil Superman. His soul once again united, Superman was restored.
Smallville[]

In Smallville, Jor-El turned Clark into Kal-El. While he is not technically evil, Clark as Kal-El showed no regard for humanity and cared very little about other people. Martha Kent used a chunk of Black Kryptonite to bring Clark back.
