Injustice

Injustice is a DC Comics franchise that began with the release of the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013. It was followed by Injustice 2 in 2017. The franchise takes place in an alternate reality where Superman descends into villainy following his family's death at the Joker's hands. The Justice League is split by those that put their trust in Superman, establishing the totalitarian One Earth Regime, while Batman forms an insurgency out of the other half of the League to fight back against the Regime.

Injustice: Gods Among Us: A comic book tie-in series published in 2013 written by Tom Taylor. Consisting of five volumes, the comics serve as a prologue to the game's events. The series concluded in 2016.
Injustice: Ground Zero: Published in 2017, the comic is a retelling of the game's events from Harley Quinn's perspective
Injustice 2: Running from 2017 to 2018 and written by Tom Taylor, the comic series takes place between the first and second games.
Injustice vs. Masters of the Universe: A crossover with He-Man written by Tim Seeley and published in 2019, the comic follows the second game's alternate ending, where Superman wins out over Batman.
Injustice: Year Zero: Published in 2020, Year Zero is a prequel to the franchise, showing how the Joker became "inspired" to corrupt and break Superman through Lois.

A six-part animated film adaptation was announced for release 2021.

The 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features a scene confirmed to take inspiration from the first game, and 2021's Zack Snyder's Justice League delves further on how this apocalyptic future came about.
