Kryptonite Varietals are the different types of Kryptonite that exist. Many of them have effects on Kryptonians, often harmful.
Known Types[]
- Green Kryptonite - Causes weakness, nausea, pain, and lack of powers in Kryptonians. Sometimes grants humans superpowers, turning them into Meteor Freaks.
- Red Kryptonite - Has an unpredictable and different effect on Kryptonians every time it is used. In Smallville, it removes Kryptonian inhibitions.
- Gold Kryptonite - Removes Kryptonian powers. The power-loss is permanent pre-Crisis; the loss lasts for a short amount of time post-Crisis.
- Blue Kryptonite - Deadly to Bizarros. Generally has no effect on Kryptonians but can remove Kryptonian powers.
- Black Kryptonite - Separates Kryptonians into two beings: one good and one evil.
- White Kryptonite - Deadly only to plant life of any world.
- Pink Kryptonite - Seeminly creates homosexuality in Kryptonians.
- X-Kryptonite - A modified form created by Supergirl in her scientific experiments. Responsible for granting Streaky the Supercat his powers.
In the Superman and Lois series, Kryptonite X is used by Morgan Edge (Tal-Rho), Clark's Kryptonian half-brother, as a power source for the Eradicator. Edge used this machine to transfer Kryptonian consciousnesses into the bodies of the inhabitants of Smallville who are the only ones who can survive the effects of Kryptonite X. In the Arrowverse it is yellow-orange in color and has the appearance of a crystal. In this universe it is one of the rarest types and is only found in the mines under the town of Smallville, which explains the resistance of its inhabitants to its radiation since they have been exposed to it for more than 20 years. In the Superman DC Heroclix Miniatures Game it is dark blue.
