Margot Kidder (October 17, 1948 – May 13, 2018) was a Canadian-American actress and activist whose career spanned five decades. She portrayed Lois Lane in Superman: The Movie, Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. She also portrayed Bridgette Crosby on the fourth season of Smallville.
In addition to Lois Lane, Kidder has also portrayed Barb Coard in Black Christmas (1974), Kathy Lutz in The Amityville Horror (1979), Rita Harris in Heartaches (1981), and Ms. Worthington in R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour (2014).
Aside from her acting career, Kidder was also an activist in environmentalism and pacifism.
She passed away at age 69, in what was ruled a suicide by drug overdose.
- Kidder is considered a victim of the Superman Curse due to her having suffered from bipolar disorder, which led to her having a nervous breakdown in 1996. She channeled her recovery towards being an outspoken advocate for mental health research and support for victims of mental illness.
