Melissa Benoist (born October 4, 1988 in Houston, Texas) is an American actress and singer who portrays Supergirl/Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers in the television series Supergirl, as well as making crossover appearances in other shows making up the CW Arrowverse. She's also known for her role as Marley Rose on Glee (2012-2014).

- Benoist married her Supergirl co-star Chris Wood (who plays Mon-El) in 2019. In September 2020, they welcomed their first child, a son named Huxley.
- In October 2017, Benoist admitted that she has struggled with depression and anxiety attacks since she was 13 years old. She and Chris Wood founded the website "I Don't Mind" to end stigmas around mental health.
- Benoist previously starred in Glee, which also starred Grant Gustin, who portrays Barry Allen/The Flash in the CW's The Flash, though they never appeared in an episode together. As a reference to their previous roles, one of their crossover episodes was a musical.
- Benoist's first husband, Blake Jenner (her costar on Glee), guest starred in Supergirl as the character Adam Foster. They divorced in 2017.
- Benoist is a natural brunette but has dyed her hair blonde to portray Supergirl.
